Cameo in Kenobi

After nearly six full episodes of Obi Wan Kenobi, and after expectations were established in the opening of the first, Liam Neeson finally made a Cameo appearance as the ghost of Qui Gon Gin in the last 60 seconds of the last.  It is unclear whether or not the robed Jedi was carrying a lightsaber, but either way, the role was brief, and arguably a fantastic waste of the potential role the character might have served.  Disney continues to disappoint fans, who seem to be in agreement that this most recent Star Wars show is lackluster, particularly in its writing.  However fans fail to understand that all Disney requires is that people watch, and pay. A Star Wars show doesn’t have to be good to retain viewers, and Disney regards the show to be a great success.  Continued loyalty to Star Wars seems to have only encouraged less attention to detail, logic, and continuity in the writing process, and it’s very likely the quality of scripts produced by the studio will continue to drop.  The number of Star Wars fans has been steadily decreasing the last few years, however the number of viewers remains the same.  It would be nice if there were more to say about Neeson’s brief scene, but there really is nothing more to be said.

Liam Neeson appears in The Guardian

The Guardian recently criticized Neeson over a seemingly harmless comment about falling in love with a woman who turned out to be “taken.”  You can find the full article here.  Neeson was under media fire a few years ago about a comment he made about being racist in his younger years.  Some sought to cancel the actor, while others appreciated the story as an illustration of peoples’ capacity to change.
